Nine Number Glow Inner Electric Lamp by Keerat; freedigitalphotos.netWell, I thought it was about time I ventured from my magical cave (where I’ve been playing with all sorts of things, btw) to greet you all in this early part of 2016. I’ve actually been doing exactly what I recommend for most of you this month; pull back and dig deep.

Now before you throw a temper tantrum or toss up your hands in despair, let me explain why.

January 1, 2016, marked the beginning a 9 Universal Year. That means the energy of the number 9 will factor into every facet and layer of life for all of us during these 12 months.

There’s actually something kind of magical about this number.  Look at the way it looks backwards rather than forwards.  There’s a reason for that.  You see, this number marks the end of a numeric cycle that started in 2008.  We’ll be doing a lot of looking back in this year, count on it.  Yet because 9 also carries the energy of all the numbers before it, it brims with possibility.

So we’ll be looking ahead too. Oh, yes.  This is not only a number of endings, completions, and culminations.  It’s a number that urges us to take all we have gleaned from this last cycle and plan how to use that going into the new 9-year cycle that starts next year.  Indeed, it urges us to draft the blueprint for the next decade.

In truth, this marks a transitional point for all of humanity. How we choose to take part in that is up to us.  What does that mean?  For some, it means accepting the challenges of transitioning global movements.  Yet for most the focus beams much closer to home.  You may be part of something (a store, organization, or project) that must change or fold.  Or maybe you’re part of  something bursting at the seams and crying for expansion.

For still others this energy will demonstrate in personal ways; the death of a parent or the birth of a grandchild, a new job opportunity that means selling your home to move to a new location. Or maybe you are transitioning out of the workforce and into retirement or self-employment.  For many these days it means starting over after a major storm or fire takes everything that represented home and security.

Nations and the Earth herself are likewise in transition. In the United States, this is the final year of a major election cycle with a new president determined in the November election. (This one has some laughing, some crying, and a lot just shaking their heads.) Monetary systems around the globe are wobbling and jerking in an attempt to maintain systems that no longer work.  (Johnson & Johnson must be making millions on the band aids applied to this one.) And the weather…do we even need to talk about that?  Unbelievable extremes around the globe altering people’s lives and the landscape in a flash.

Any transition requires release of the old and trust that the new will unfold before us in some way. For most, that is not an easy junction.  That’s again where this number comes in, with service and compassion.  Deep, honest, heartfelt compassion.  Not to be confused with sympathy or self-pity, mind you.  Compassion brings understanding and caring originating from divine love.  It stirs us to action and opens the door to possibilities not yet imagined.  It touches the heart of the giver and receiver alike, not in a crippling way but with a power that ignites hope…no matter what.

We live in emotional times often charged with rage and anger. That too can be exacerbated by this energy if it lands in its lower expression; over emotionality.  Remember, every number carries a higher and lower vibrational energy.  Guard against allowing yourself to be pulled into that undercurrent.  The number 9 is part of the numeric Emotional Triad (3-6-9) so can bring sudden fits of rage or an upwelling of tears of pain or joy when least expected.  (I’m considering carrying a box of tissues with me this year for whomever needs a few…myself included.)

An example of this occurred when President Obama teared up when recalling the plethora of young victims of gun violence.  Why didn’t this happen at other times he spoke on this subject?  We weren’t in a 9 year then.  Plus, the Moon (emotional energy) was transiting his 10th House (career/reputation) during this latest address.

And how does the current astrology figure in all of this. Mightily!

I just gave you an example with Obama. Now consider this.  We started the year with tension created by another close connection between our old pals Pluto and Uranus.  This time they came to within a degree or so of an exact square and will stay in that close positon throughout January and beyond.  If you’ve been with me awhile you know what this signifies and energizes.  Say it with me now.

Revolutionary transformation.

I ask you, have you ever seen a revolution on this planet that was neat and orderly? No?  Me neither.  Revolution is a messy process and one that requires total dedication to the cause.  I’m not speaking so much militarily here–although that’s energized as well–as much as I am of revolutionizing ideas.  We humans resist change like a toddler fighting to retain his/her last binky (aka, pacifier).  It scares us.  And Pluto is good at that, by the way.  The scaring and the changing.  Yet Uranian energy is pushing us forward in sudden bursts, no matter what.  Look beneath all the surface explosions in headlines and sound bites and we find amazing things going on in technology, cinema, clean energy, immunotherapy, and a host of other fields.

Yet sometimes it’s the actual explosions that do captivate our attention. For example, just as the Sun moved into conjunction with Pluto on January 5th, the world rocked from North Korea’s test of what they claimed was a hydrogen bomb, a nuclear device. But then Mercury (communication/ideas) had just stationed to go retrograde, so no one knows for sure and reports are confused. Since the luminaries and inner planets trigger the outer planets, this came as no surprise astrologically.  The Pluto-Uranus square got triggered again, big time.

And what else is going on in the cosmos. Well, more than I can recount here, that’s for sure.

As I mentioned, we are in the first of four—count ‘em, fourMercury retrogrades this year.  Generally, there are three.  But good ol’ Mercury stepped up to the plate to add his own version of shock and awe by tossing in another 3-week period for reviewing, releasing, and redoing whatever calls for our attention.  Lucky us!  I must say that I agree with astrologer Donna Cunningham, however.   She feels Mercury gets blamed for a lot of what is actually Uranus’ erratic energy when it comes to technology issues.  I watched that last Winter/Spring and again all through December.  Anyway, the first Mercury retrograde is now in effect until January 25th, and I’d wait until around February 8th to actually start any major new project, if possible.  Let the energy settle a bit.

And Jupiter is now retrograde as well until early May. This again pulls our focus inward.  It marks a time for internal work and expansion that can manifest in external ways when the time is right.  Since Jupiter is now in Virgo, that may mean finally determining how to better take care of your health.  Or maybe it’s your daily routine or critical thinking that is boxing you in.  There’s a definite and strong call for freedom (Uranus)now that brings more awareness around anything that constrains us.

It pays, however, to remember that Virgo is a practical, no nonsense Earth sign that loves efficiency and tangible results. Start with making the mental changes to move you forward.  That could even be finding ways to get out of the mental loops that keep you awake at night.  Perhaps it’s your relationships that need attention. (With Black Moon Lilith recently transiting in Libra, relationship shadow issues abound.) Whatever house Jupiter is transiting in your chart will tell you where your focus will be. Realize also that Jupiter also can spark spiritual/religious zeal to the extreme.

So here’s another little freebie from me. If you don’t know where Jupiter is activating your chart right now, go to my website (below) and drop me a note with your birth information.  I’ll give you a one or two-line highlight.

And in the meantime, I’ll be in my cave determining what new explosive idea to play with next.

A Bowl of Popcorn by Mister GC; freedigitalphotos.netHave you ever noticed that life is a lot like a popcorn popper that never stops popping?
You know, you start with those golden/white kernels, add hot oil or air (or microwaves…) and stand eying the popper in anticipation of a delicious outcome. The first kernels pop and the aroma makes you salivate. You grab the bowls from the cupboard with one hand and the salt shaker with the other. Man, life can be delicious!
The popping speeds up then slows to a near stop. You reach for your reward, but before you can do anything the cycle starts all over. The lid rises on the popper and corn spills onto the counter. What the heck? Bowls and shaker cast aside, you struggle to keep the lid on with one hand while scooping popcorn up by the fistful with the other.
At last the popper seems to be stopping. You sigh and turn to reach for another bowl. What? You whirl around. Oh, no! It can’t be. Another cycle? Impossible! Where’s all that corn coming from anyway? (Twilight Zone music, please…)
Now for all you Saturian types who scoff and think, “Well, just unplug it or turn off the heat,” let me tell you, it’s not that easy. Not when the kernels represent ideas, dreams and experiences; the container your daily life complete with family, work, and environment; and the heat the continuously changing energy created by astrological and numeric combinations that affect us all.
Bear with me while I share a little of my own “popcorn” with you.
May 6th I drove my husband to an out of town doctor appointment. It was one of those July-like spring days so I waited in the car with the dog least our Doxie become a roast wiener. (Okay, bad joke.) This appointment was just a routine check-in with the doctor, after all, so no need for me to be a part of it.
Surprise! My husband returns to the car an hour and a half later and announces, “I go in for surgery on the 19th.”
I was scheduled to fly out to an astrology conference on the 21st, a commitment made months before.
“It’s okay, the doctor says you don’t have to be there for my recovery. I’ll only have to be in the hospital one or two nights. He says I can do fine on my own if I can run a microwave.”
I was in shock. How could this happen?
Simple. My chart was triggered by a Moon transit over Saturn that was in a bear hug with my natal Mars in Sagittarius which also was being solar arched by the North Node, all at. Translation: The Moon, which rules our emotions, triggered Saturn, the planet of fears and responsibilities, to challenge Mars, the planet of initiation and personal power, around a relationship issue through the number 2, involving travel for higher learning (Sagittarius) that involved my future (North Node).
Besides that, Uranus, planet of unexpected happenings, aspected my Midheaven (career and reputation) and natal Mercury (information and communication). The Sun at 15° (15/6 a number of love, caretaking, and spiritual alchemy in numerology) aspecting Pluto (transformation) coupled with the 6 calendar day triggered my Destiny Number, with also affects career. Mars also solar arched my relationship axis (ASC/DSC) and conjunct my 3rd House cusp (communication). Transiting Venus aspected my natal Jupiter which was solar arched by Venus and Saturn, and Venus rules my Sun and Moon Signs—all at Critical Degree 28 (crisis or urgency) which also triggers another key number involving career in my personal code. That, my friends, is what you call a highly activated chart, in my case involving a new cycle for me developing between Saturn and Mars.
The choice? Do I go or do I stay. Sounds simple, right? Not so. This triggered an old pattern for me of giving up what is right for me personally for the sake of someone in my family (Virgo, Libra, Venus, and Saturn in the 7th House of Marriage and Partnerships). Was I ready to consciously transform that? Could I face criticism that may come from others if I did?
I took a breath. “I can’t stay,” I told my husband.
“I know,” he said. “I don’t want you too. And the doctor says there’s no need.” (Am I married to a great guy or what?)
Of course this was only the initial step of this challenge. The surgery corresponded with a New Moon (emotions/new beginnings) and the start of a Mercury retrograde (delays and reviews). The surgery was delayed by several hours due to an emergency. I claimed a chair in the waiting room. Emergencies seem so impersonal at times like that—until they aren’t. In walked an old friend I rarely see anymore.
“What brings you here?” I asked.
“My grandson broke his neck,” she responded with a grimace.
In my chart that day, the Sun, again at Critical Degree 28, squared (tension) my natal Jupiter (expansion) in the 12th House (hospitals) as transiting Jupiter quincunx (requiring adjustment) Pluto (something or someone from the past). Again the Moon served as the trigger.
Suddenly my own situation dwarfed as I saw what this friend faced. Our situation was so minor compared to hers. My view expanded, bringing an attitude adjustment. The delay didn’t matter anymore. What mattered was that her grandson got the care he needed in time.
Another delay kept my husband in the hospital longer than we’d hoped. He was released a few hours before my flight, so I said goodbye in the hospital and a friend graciously brought him home.
When I returned from the conference, he was doing just fine with no pain and very few restrictions. As to my friend, I ran into her in the grocery store a few days ago and discovered that her grandson is already back to work. I know, right? Now how cool is that?
As for me, am I glad I made the choice I did? Absolutely! The conference provided new contacts and fueled me with information to benefit my clients. The best part is I broke an old restrictive pattern that plagued me through life. Just goes to show that when we work with the energies of the planets and the numbers things work out not only for our highest good but the good of those around us as well.
Popcorn, anyone?

Smart Hand Holds the House Icon by watcharakun; freedigitalphotos.netHow are you at being unflappable? You may get to test that in the days ahead.  These last two weeks of May can test your patience with your computer as well as wallet fluctuations and relationship issues.  So stay cool and let’s explore what’s up, okay?

In truth, the past week presented us with numerous triggers from Mars that could make things feel powerful and playful one day and volatile or out of control the next.  These culminated with Mars opposing Saturn at on May 15th.  Imagine applying the gas and the brake at the same time in your vehicle.  Yeah, it’s like that.  And the best way to handle that kind of energy is to discipline yourself to make a plan, short or long, and start working the steps.  Of course this won’t work for those of you who insist that tossing spaghetti on the wall to see what sticks in the only way to manifest anything.  (So Gemini-like…)  All I can say to you is, happy scrubbing!

Trines help us resolve the challenging energies in the chart.  On the 16th, Venus trined Neptune at , an easy flowing energy that could up level family dynamics through embracing the unique spiritual nature of each person.  Otherwise you could waste this energy in fantasy-based wishes without a thread to anchor them in your family’s reality.   Remember, 16 is one of those numbers that can bring unexpected consequences, and 9 can trigger strong compassion and other emotions.

Mars semi-squares Uranus on the 17th, which can set your world on edge.  Be prepared to act quickly on whatever intuitive flashes you get that day to maximize this energy and direct it toward a beneficial outcome.

If you navigate these energies successfully, congratulation!  You’re in good stead for one of the most power-packed Mondays this year.  This includes, among other things, a Taurus New Moon at 26°, a challenging Venus-Uranus-Pluto T-square, plus the start of a super-charged Mercury retrograde in its home sign the following day. (You’ve likely felt this retro coming for a couple weeks.)

Let’s look first at this New Moon.  Numerically, the 26 reduces to 8 (2+6) which is further activated by us being in an 8 Universal Year.  Since Taurus rules the house of earned income, values, and self-worth the continuing focus of financial matters intensifies.  Plus, 26/8 can bring people from your past into play and/or draw those with a strong 8 influence in their numbers code.  If things feel overly charged, simply allow yourself to chill out.  Remember Taurus moves with slow, steady strength.  This is more a day for planning and setting strong intentions than taking action.

This Mercury retrograde supports that.  Over the next 3 weeks, watch how you communicate.  Has your style of communicating changed?  Does negative self-talk still creep in from time to time?  Do you speak up or shut up at appropriate times?  Mercury in its home sign of Gemini tends to make all of us more chatty.  Loose lips during a retrograde can prove catastrophic for relationships, so beware.  And of course the usual warnings about computer problems and confused or delayed communications on all levels apply.  So give your computer keyboard or I-phone a rest so you can think before you “speak.”

The T-square involving Venus, Uranus, and Pluto focuses on family issues, including family finances.  This energy increases until it peaks on the 24th then slowly dissipates over the next 5 days.  For many this is a time to plan trips around Memorial Day weekend in the U.S., graduations or family vacations in June, or reunions in July.  Where’s the money coming from this time?  Who’s responsible for what?  Is the family at odds over where or when to go or what route to take?  Will you fly or drive?  Then there’s crazy Aunt Suzy whose predictably unpredictable outbursts tend to ruin every event.  What to do, what to do?

Up level, people.  Let the balance, fairness, and financial wisdom brought by Venus temper the deeply emotional issues (Pluto) and surprising events (Uranus) that may arise during this time.

The Sun moves into Gemini on the 21st intensifying the travel bug for many of us.  Also on that day Pluto and Venus hit a 15° trine (part of the T-square) that increases our natural drive to love and nurture.  As I said, trines help us resolve the squares.  This aspect will encourage us to deepen relationships through challenge.  Keep your eye on the prize.

And that’s not all.  Jupiter in Leo and Pluto in Capricorn are quincunx also at 15° that day requiring an adjustment that can result in an expansion of wealth through how you express your own power in the world (Leo).  Are you ready for that?

Learning and writing are highlighted the rest of the month.  Pay particular attention to the 22nd when the Sun opposes Saturn at , the number of peaceful one-on-one communication. Demonstrate maturity and good management skills in spite of any speed bumps that force a temporary slowdown.

A shift in the energy occurs the 25th when Venus squares Uranus, urging you to think outside the box.  Also on that day Mars squares Neptune making it all too easy to overdo everything.  Yet a quintile between the Sun and Jupiter adds enthusiasm and a sense of celebration to the day.

The 27th, Mars meets up with Mercury.  Watch for aggression and confusion in communication.  Deal with this with the help of a trine between Venus and Chiron, urging heartfelt mentoring and healing.

Mercury squares Neptune the 28th, intensifying the likelihood for mental confusion or rambling thoughts.  Stay open minded and step into a higher frame of thought.

And the weekend of the 30th-31st the Sun conjuncts Mercury and squares Neptune.  It’s a time for wild imaginings from which you can glean mighty nuggets of inspiration to share.  Write, create, and most of all enjoy!  Be aware, however, that this energy tends to blur the boundaries between you and everything else.  Use it wisely.

And so it goes, my friends.  Communication, money, and relationships rivet our attention throughout the rest of May.  The old Wall St. slogan, “Sell in May and go away,” is indicative of Taurus moving into Gemini energy.  The point is, where are you headed and can you enjoy the ride?

World Planets Show Solar System & Worldly by Stuart Miles; freedigitalphotos.netHave you ever looked through a kaleidoscope?  Well, that’s what the cosmic patterns leading up to the Super New Moon January 20th look like.  Sharp and soft angles in light and dark tones create new, dynamic and unexpected pictures.  A flip of the dial creates a whole new scene.  Care to take a look?

On January 15th power planet Mars in dreamy and spiritual Pisces squared off with teacher/task master Saturn.  (Squares require action.)  Now Saturn in Sagittarius challenges our beliefs and encourages higher learning.  The square at brings a “Can we talk?” energy. This blends with the 15/6, activated by both the date and year.  The number 15 holds the potential for up leveling.  Think of the alchemy of turning lead into gold.  This then materializes through the power of love and nurturance (6).  (Are you still with me?  Read s-l-o-w-l-y if you’re getting lost.  Wink!)

Mercy trining the North Node at 13° Libra on this date adds another layer.  Trines denote free-flowing energy.  Here Mercury, the communication planet, in revolutionary Aquarius energizes our collective present/future (North Node).   The Nodes are impacting our sense of security through their positions in the astrological security axis of Cancer/Capricorn.  The number 13/4 calls for transformation through struggle for foundational change.

Plus Mercury was conjunct (blending energy) with Venus, the planet of love, balance, justice, and money.   Venus at 14° brought even more energy for change since 14 reduces to 5 (1+4=5), the most change-driven number in numerology.

Now consider that transformational Pluto is currently squaring the North Node and revolutionary Uranus also at 13°.  And Uranus, now only an arm’s length away (cosmically speaking) from the South Node in Mars-ruled Aries, moves into exact conjunction hours before the Super New Moon on the 20th.  New Moons signify new beginnings, and Super New Moons boost that energy even more as they pass so close to the Earth.

Also just before this Super New Moon, Mars joins Neptune at 5° Pisces. (Again note the number of change.)  Neptune, guardian of hopes and dream, rules spiritually-based Pisces, so is at full strength now.  Blending these energies is kind of like hooking a jet engine to a kite.  This kite won’t explode.  Yet blown out of its comfort zone it lacks direction, zigging wildly here and there.

With all that powerful energy joining forces over the next week, you might expect a thrust forward, right?  And that could happen.  But here’s the cosmic curve ball.  (Pardon the mixed metaphor.)  Though we are in a 1 calendar month, denoting beginnings, we are in a 9 Universal Month, denoting endings and preparations for new beginnings.  Plus the days leading up to a New Moon naturally bring low energy and a time of assimilation rather than power spurts.  The Sun, our planetary power source, is in Capricorn, an internally-focused sign.  On the 15th it was at 25°, which reduces to 7, the most solitude-seeking number.  Yet on the day of the Super New Moon, it moves into externally-focused Aquarius at , highlighting again the themes of spirituality/beliefs and new beginnings.

Now here’s the kicker.  The day after the Super New Moon, Mercury goes retrograde at 17° in change-drive Aquarius while in a cosmic hug with the Moon and Venus, two love-oriented heavenly bodies.  Pythagoras saw 17 as the number of death.  Indeed allowing some things to die may be required to allow the new to materialize.  Also realize that this number often brings long-lasting effects.  As always, retrograde periods draw us to reflect, reorganize, and renew what still works.

This all creates a push-pull, start-stop sensation.

Keep in mind that we are in an 8 Universal Year and 17 reduces to 8.  This invites strong leadership with good judgment.  And as is true all year with this “king of the money numbers,” money may enter the picture as a learning/teaching tool.

So what does this all mean for you personally?  Self-esteem issues may arise, perhaps around addictions (Neptune).  It’s time to release fears (Pluto) of the present or future (North Node) and expand your faith to live your dreams (Sagittarius/Pisces).  Connect (Mercury) with your higher truth (Neptune) and look for your personal learning curve trajectory (Saturn/Mars).  Take classes (Mercury/Sagittarius) and allow yourself to explore new insights or futuristic information (Uranus/5/7).  Watch your relationships and finances (Venus/8) for challenges and opportunities for growth.   Apply the highest form of love you can to each person and/or situation (Venus/6).  And realize you now stand on the leading edge of a new chapter in your life on some level (New Year/Super New Moon/1).

Blessings, everyone!

Planet in Space by Phiseksit; freedigitalphotos.netFeeling a bit confused, at loose ends, uncertain about your next step? You have a lot of company.  This is indicative of the time between eclipses.  And that, my friend is where we are right now.

The lunar eclipse October 8th was surrounded and compounded by multiple astrological aspects.  Powerful stuff!  Some people felt it physically, others emotionally, and some were moved to close old doors (or at least took steps to do so) not knowing where or when the next door would appear.

Now you find yourself at a midpoint of this period. This can be a time of real or imagined uncertainty.  It’s a time to step back and reassess, not just mentally but on all levels.  What just happened?  How has your reality changed?  What has your attention now?  Who and what holds the most value in your current world?

If you don’t have specific answers to these, it’s okay. Guard against getting into a mental loop of “whys” and “what ifs.” Yet spending time with these kinds of questions that can lead you out of the fog.  More clarity likely will come between now and the time of the partial solar eclipse October 23rd.   Remember, right timing is a major component of success for most of us.  So be patient and stay with what is.

With Mercury retrograde until October 25th and Venus’ power diminished or altered as she hugs the Sun, this is not a great time to set things in concrete.  Look at it as a time for formulation and planning, realizing that some tweaking may be needed later on.  (I’m not a big fan of redos myself—too much “do-do” to wade through in the process, if you get my meaning.  And I’m not that good with a chisel either.)

The way I see it, three areas of life are highlighted this month: relationships, money issues, and repeating patterns.  Relationships, a theme all this year, are up for review again with Mercury backtracking into Libra as of October 10th.  How is your communication with those you are closest to?  Testy or open?  Cloaked or honest?  Passive aggressive or assertive?   With Venus in this position some of our buffers are off, so guard against harshness masquerading as assertiveness.

Have you had a few money surprises since we moved into Libra September 23rd?  Remember, we are now in an 8 Universal Month and 8 is the most powerful and eventful of the money numbers, and Venus/Libra rule money astrologically.  Therefore money can become a great teacher at times like this.  The key is to take your eyes off the dollar signs and look at what this really triggers in you.  Is it fear of lack, a need for control, or maybe a desire for freedom?   Getting to the root of whatever that issue is marks the beginning of a turnaround.

The number 8 also stands for infinity and the highest level of manifestation.  The problem is, if you unwittingly live in repeating patterns that keep showing up in slightly different guises, they are what manifest into infinity.  Once you see the pattern, however, it is then in your capability to change it.  The subconscious becomes conscious.  This can appear in any area of your life, but with Libra and Scorpio highlighted this month, watch for it to play out right now in whatever house(s) these signs appear in your astrology chart.  Collectively this affects the 7th and 8th Houses, dealing with marriage/close partnerships and our deepest fears and soul issues.  We’ll all experience this energy to some degree, no matter where your personal chart might highlight it for you.

Yes, the solar eclipse on the 23rd promises to be memorable with effects that will last at least 6 months.  Eclipses do that anyway, and this one combines with a New Moon and a Venus-Sun conjunction. (Of course the Moon always joins the Sun at the time of a New Moon.)  It’s a time of aspect upon aspect upon aspect, each adding a different dynamic to the equation.  New Moons invite (and sometimes push) new beginnings that can feel quite emotional.   Venus blends her energy completely with the Sun as the two move into Scorpio. Shifting from Libra to Scorpio automatically changes the energy we all feel from outer to inner, from the seen to the unseen.  At the same time, the Sun and Venus will propel us to shine a light on things previously hidden or buried.

And so our evolutionary process marches on. Planetary and numeric energies spur us all in different way to get on with it.  No more excuses, no more hiding, no more denying your own personal truth.  Let the unconscious become conscious.  See it in all honesty and feel into what that means for you moving forward from here.  Balance (Libra) remains key as we maneuver this lapse between the eclipses.  And don’t forget that the greatest power of all is love.

Rays' Color Shows Framing Color by Stuart Miles; freedigitalphotos.netJupiter, the “lucky” planet earned its nickname over the years. Yet in truth, Jupiter expands and exaggerates whatever it touches.  With Leo now highly activated through a Fire Trine and its ruling planet, the Sun, transiting Libra, any unresolved boundary issues fire up.  And with the asto-numerology lining up for October and Jupiter transiting Leo, expect spot flares throughout the month.

You see, this Fire Trine—strongest through the first 10 days of the month– also involves Mars (action, self-empowerment) and Uranus (sudden, explosive happenings). Leo loves adventure and anything that draws attention to the Self.  It naturally occupies the 5th House of Creativity, Romance, Children, and the Future.  (Where it sits in your chart may align this energy to different aspect of your life.)  Think of this as an extroverted sign in an extroverted house now supercharged through Jupiter and the Fire Trine.  Party time, volcanic eruption—or both?

The fact is this can be a great time for moving things forward in your life. And I encourage you to do just that.  Along with that, however, realize that the Sun in Libra shines attention this month on your closest relationship/partnership issuesLibra urges balance, yet the tendency for many when under its influence is to give in just to keep the peace.  That’s not going to be so easy with this much fire energy in play.  So this may trigger both old and new boundary issues.

What are boundary issues anyway? That depends, and so does how they are triggered.  A student may realize their best friend’s cries for help are a cover for cheating.  At work, a woman suddenly realizes she is being offered a promotion mainly because the company feels they can pay her less.  A pro ball player might question whether they can maintain his/her current status on the team without performance-enhancing drugs.   Someone wants your services, but for free. Boundaries.  Where will you refuse to cross the line?  When is enough enough?  And in a marriage, that can get even trickier.

The energy this month supports using self-empowerment as the underlying energy to face any of these issues. This is not a destructive type of “only me” approach, but one of using the strength of all your inner resources to find ways to break destructive patterns and move your life forward again. (An old song with a new verse.)  It’s daring to see (Uranus) and act (Mars) on things that kept you from realizing your full potential and realization (Jupiter in Leo)—in and out of relationship.

Ironically, setting boundaries can free you to do just that. No longer are you at other people’s mercy, scattering and depleting your energy.  You become the one setting the course for your life and determining when to stay or go, act or wait.

Be aware that some of this may culminate for you around the time of the Full Moon eclipse October 8th.  This energy could move someone out of your life.  Whenever we transit Libra, relationships are tested.  And with eclipse energy added, relationships that are strong and working well survive and become even stronger.  Otherwise the eclipse can serve at the ending point that ultimately frees both parties to start moving forward in different directions.

Also guard against being drawn into other people’s dramas. Leo loves drama.  And the “look at me” dynamic of that sign can easily draw our attention.  Unless you are directly involved, recognize it for what it is and don’t get sucked in.  Again, boundaries!  Allow others the opportunity to find their own way through their dramas rather than enabling them to continue in them.  In this energy, would-be rescuers will likely get burned anyway.

Adding intensity to the month is the degrees at which the major activations occur. Most of them are from 11° through 19°, the midpoints of the signs.  As astrologer Barbara Hand Clow points out, this is the area where the action occurs.  Remember that 11/2 is a relationship gateway number where you will either dare to step forward or sink back into your past.  We are currently in a 17/8 Universal Month which intensifies each activation of that number, the manifestation number of leaving a legacy behind.  And the number 14/5, also highly activated this month, puts the focus on all forms of media and your talents with the intent of pivotal change.   Number 19/1 points to leading with compassion.

Oh, and Mercury is retrograde nearly all month, (really…) so speak c-l-e-a-r-l-y and confirm how others hear what you say. Why let a misunderstood sentence or action blow up into an argument?  Also, Mercury returns to Libra for awhile on the 10th, so you get an opportunity to revisit and elevate any relationship issues that came up over the past several weeks.  (Oh goody!)

So what do you say? Is it time to firm up your boundary lines?  Or set new ones?  By doing so you will find more stability as the cosmos now heats up again on its way to the fourth Pluto-Uranus exact squaring in December.

Sun Sky by samarttiw; freedigitalphotos.netHey, it’s Summer!   For those of us in the northern hemisphere, at least.  Those of you in the southern half of the world mark the beginning of Winter, but you’ll excuse me if I focus on what’s outside my front door right now, won’t you?  So yeah!  It’s Summer!  Time to swim the river, bury my feet in the sand and watch the Sun dance through the sky till 9 or 10 at night.  I feel like Snoopy, spinning in dizzying circles around my dog house.  Don’t bother me with details; it’s SUMMER!

Isn’t it funny how the Summer Solstice tends to have such an uplifting effect on people?  And if you ask me, the whole planet could do with an extra dose of uplifting about now.  This year has been I-N-T-E-N-S-E so far.  This intensity is due largely to the unusual fact that since March at least part if not the whole month we’ve felt the energy of four planets in retrograde at the same time.  Yowza!  This phenomenon rains on us through July, by the way, so don’t put your umbrellas away just yet.

While the Solstice marks a time of new beginnings, retrogrades usher in periods of review and redo.  June continued to see Saturn and Pluto in retrograde, joined by Neptune and Mercury (and Chiron, by the way).

Let’s start with good ol’ Mercury.  We can count on Mercury to retrograde about 3 times a year. Yet this one has been one of the strongest I’ve felt.  Agreed?  That may be thanks in part to three X-Class solar flares firing off in rapid succession from the Sun that first week.

Mercury really doesn’t need help to scramble communications and fracture our techno-inundated world.  But these flares definitely gave it a boost, in my view.  Plus, Mercury retrograded in the sign of Cancer (though now in it’s home sign of Gemini again), so strong emotions tended to be intensified along with it.

Has it been more difficult to communicate clearly lately?  Are people not hearing what you say or completely misunderstanding you?  Is your tongue tangling when you speak or thoughts jumbling in your brain?  Mercury stimulates mental energy.  During this retrograde, it’s wise to reconsider before speaking.  Writing may prove the best avenue for expression.  It bypasses the pitfalls of uninhibited speech that in this energetic setting can lead to misunderstandings and intense emotions.  And know that this, too, shall pass or at least start to lighten up July 1.

Let’s face it, when your mind throws you out of balance, it’s tempting to over-indulge in some outward behavior to mask our fears and/or feelings of inadequacy.  You buy ice cream by the gallon, join in all-night parties, or watch movies for 10 hours a day.  Or perhaps the opposite is true.  You sensor everything you consider doing for fear of getting out of control.  All the while, that old feeling that you’re never good enough lurks in the background.

If any of this sounds true, you are experiencing aspect of the Saturn retrograde now in effect.  Saturn is still in Scorpio, so secrets of all kinds come into play.  Taboos may show up in extreme forms, and puzzling or revealing issues around a death or other people’s money can arise.  It can feel like the world is conspiring against you and your desires, that everything you win requires struggle.

Yet the underlying message of Saturn is to take responsibility, stay organized, include some structure, and follow through to reach the next step in any project or maturity level. Pluto’s retrograde in Capricorn underscores this.  This is the planet of upheaval, reversals, transformation, and beginnings.  Capricorn governs the House of Work/Career.  Never is the public face versus private face more evident than in a Pluto retrograde.

For example, you may feel revered in one moment and reviled the next.  You keep your chin up when the world’s watching to mask your inner turmoil.  You want to keep your inner upheavals private so make light of things when in public.  This can shut other people down, adding to your tendency at this time to withdraw and shield your own inner world from view.  In truth, you are being called to learn and implement forgiveness on deep, deep levels; to get honest with yourself and others; to learn once and for all that you, not anyone else, are in control of how you choose to act and respond to life. So guard against being two-faced in any form.

Neptune retrograde in its home sign of Pisces emphasizes this even more as barriers between “me” and “we” feel virtually nonexistent.  Pisces is a very sensitive sign, so sensitivity in all areas becomes heightened.  This can lead to the tendency to take the blame for everything.  If you catch yourself apologizing to everybody for everything from the price of coffee to the current weather conditions, trust me, you’re experiencing Neptune retro energy.

The key here is not to get a thicker skin or a heavier mask, but to realize that the state of the world is not your fault.  You may feel like crying at every sad news report, but know that it’s likely your hyper-sensitivity at the moment that intensifies your reaction.  Everything feels tragic and monumental.  Recognize that this is an illusion.  Allow yourself to gain clarity in not only your own illusions but those of others.  Let this energy assist you in identifying how your own intuition can strengthen you own course, while guarding against chasing unrealistic fantasies.  (Unless your next project happens to be creating a stellar sci-fi movie, that is.)

The universal start time of 11:51 AM for the June 21 Solstice echoes the 13/4 numeric vibration of this Universal Month.   This number encourages transformation through challenge and creativity.  And the number 21 offers freedom through truth.

Remember that the Solstice itself marks a midway point, a time of integration.  It’s a time to review your choices and decisions so far this year, assessing and integrating the past six months.  It’s a time to balance your inner feelings with your outer actions as you set a course for the next six months.  It’s a season to process and digest life, allowing it to feed and strengthen you for what lies ahead.   It’s a time for honoring the natural cycles of all things, and the part you play in that.  Allow yourself to become consistently more responsible where it counts and free in ways that feed your spirit and creativity.  And in so doing, herald the light within and without.

Love Is Everywhere, holohololand;

We entered February with Venus no longer in retrograde, which is perfect for a month so focused on love as this.  Now our love interests again shift outward more than inward.  That’s not to say the time for contemplation has ended.  It hasn’t.  Yet now those dwelling thoughts and feeling tend to include others more.

This blend is natural this month.  The contemplative and solitary energy of the 7 Universal Year now blends with that of a 9 Universal Month.  Seven in numerology marks the strongest of the mental numbers noted in the Mental Triad (1-5-7).  Nine is considered the king of numbers because it includes the energies of all the other numbers before it.  It tops the Emotional Triad (3-6-9) with deep compassion and humanitarian instincts.   Thus blending the energy of the 7 and 9 this month empowers ideas into actions that demonstrate the feelings behind them.  Nine also brings endings and culminations so blends well with what we’ll look at next.

On February 6th, Mercury retrogrades again and remains so the rest of the month. (Come on.  Stop moaning; you know that only makes it feel worse.) As you likely know, this energy can not only confuse all forms of electronics and communication but draws us to redress anything unfinished.  That often results in bringing things to completion or at last ending what may have needed to end long ago.  This is the 9 energy at play.

Often without us realizing it the 7 energy under-girds us at times like this.  It brings ideas and solutions for these times of closure while fielding new dreams and ambitions for our future.  When we allow this process to play out, we are truly living in the highest vibration of these numbers in a win-win scenario.  Plus they’re given a boost since Mercury, the ruler of the mind, joins Neptune, ruler of our hopes and dreams in Neptune’s home sign (Pisces).

So how does this fit into February, the month of LOVE?

February begins in Aquarius, the most humanitarian of all astrology signs.  On the 18th it changes to Pisces, a highly spiritual sign.  Perfect!  Remember 7 is the most spiritual of all the numbers.  Can you see where this is going?  Well, neither can I—and that’s the beauty of it. (Oh, come back here; I’m not finished yet.) We don’t have to.  Simply trust.  Have faith.  Trust your higher power and your own inner knowing.

I realize this may be a stretch for some of you.  Trusting your own mind is one thing; trusting anything else is something else, right?  And therein lays the conundrum many may face during this Mercury retrograde period. Will you now embrace your highest potential for your given situation based on that sense of guidance or being drawn?  Will you now allow your heart to lead and you mind to shift to the important support role for which it was designed?  Will you?  Choice, we’re forever at choice, aren’t we?  And this is a great time to plan.

More excitement awaits as this month moves into flow.  Just wait till Valentine’s Day.  Wow, baby!  But more on that later.

Be blessed as you bless others.  Love to the enth degree.  And most of all enjoy the journey.
