Good Luck on Phone Shows Fortune & Lucky; Stuart Miles; freedigitalphotos.netHave you noticed? Astrology is peppered with unstable and unpredictable components meant to jar us out of ruts, comfort zones, and old patterns. Take the Vertex, for example. That’s vertex, not vortex.   Yet make no mistake; when the Vertex is activated in your chart it can feel like you’ve been sucked into a vortex. Let me explain.

The Vertex is neither good nor bad. It is a specific point in the cosmos, considered a point of destiny, at which the ecliptic (path of the Sun) and a plane that divides the celestial sphere (aka, prime vertical) intersect. (I know. Astrologers look at the craziest things, don’t they?) The Vertex forms an axis with its opposite point, the Anti-Vertex, directly across the astrology chart.

This axis marks another key point for your relationships. What adds the element of surprise to this particular activation is that it triggers things out of your control. It appears not to be triggered easily, however, taking eclipses or some other cosmic event to add the fire power. (Big sigh…whew!)

Yet the Vertex is like every other point in astrology; we all have one. It’s symbolized by Vx and generally found between the 4th and 8th Houses in your natal chart. Those houses alone indicate other people will be involved.

If you’ve studied astrology for awhile, you know Mercury tends to take on the characteristics of whatever planet it gets close to in aspect. Well, the Vertex also demonstrates that trait—on steroids. It not only reflects the aspects of the House in which it resides or transits but takes on the “personality” of planets in aspect. This is particularly true of conjunctions within a 5° orb.

The House position sets the stage. If it’s in the 5th House, someone may appear out of the blue as a new love interest. Yet this romance may not play out in expected ways. If it’s in the 8th House, you may experience the death of a family member or close friend that could involve unexpected actions and reactions around “other people’s money.” (Anyone who has settled out an estate can relate to that one, right?)

As an aside, the Vertex in the U.S. chart is in the 8th House. This country has experienced multiple events that triggered national bereavement and issues involving financial fallout. That’s 8th House stuff for sure.

Yet realize that the Vertex equally expresses in fortunate ways. It also activates what attracts us, what we desire, our obsessions. You might win the lottery or inherit mineral rights on the Bakkan Oil Reserve albeit after the blush is off the boom. You might get engaged, surprising everyone including you; or experience the unexpected birth of triplets rather than twins. Each leaves you wondering, “What now?” The underlying caution here is: be careful what you wish for.

When we add the energy of numbers to this equation, it gets even more interesting. This includes the degree number of the Vertex as well and other personal and collective numbers activated at the time. Here’s a recent example from my own life.

I am in a 9 Personal Year in this 9 Universal Year. That alone sets the theme of culminations and endings for this birth year. It is a transitional year for completion and starting to plan for my next 9-year cycle. The Lunar Eclipse last September occurred one day from my birthday. (That’s the Universe saying, “This one’s for YOU!”) Lunar eclipses often signify endings with the effects stretched out for at least 6 months. This one triggered my natal Vertex at the high relationship Number 20 in the 7th House of close relationships plus Progressed Vertex in the 8th House. Actually, my chart was on fire. Less than a month later, I got word my mother was not expected to live. The Moon often represent the mother.

Emotional turmoil ensued. I joined my sister for a bedside vigil. (Hey, I’m a Libran with a 6 Destiny Number.) After two weeks, I was forced home by weather, only to have Mom rally the very day I left. Go figure! She continued to show slow improvement over the next several months. Then in early February, everything shifted in the other direction. After a 10-day hospital stay, she transitioned on the 13th, within 5 minutes of my Lunar Return, another indicator of an ending. The number 13 in numerology indicates transformation through struggle, and for her it truly was. Plus, the 13 triggered one of her key personal numbers.

As we know, nothing in life truly ends. It just plays into the next. So we continue the process as our family adjusts on all levels to the loss of its matriarch.

And I stand on the edge of another Lunar Eclipse (March 23rd) that again triggers my chart. It is, after all, a 9 year.

Number 9 holds the energy of all the numbers before it so is a number of wisdom, keenly focused on compassion and humanitarianism. (More on this another time.) And yes, it also is the most emotional number, the highest in the Emotional Triad 3-6-9. Keeping my emotions in balance remains a challenge this birth year, and we all know how importance balance is to a Libran. Geez, Louise!

If you’ve followed my writing for awhile, you know I speak often of “growth opportunities.” The activation of the Vertex triggers one of these—big time. It marks a turning point in life. Even the most fortunate events present you with new questions or possibilities around how this will change your life. And that’s the bottom line and key word of a Vertex activation: CHANGE. The same is true of Number 9. Put the two together and you might as well embrace it, because it’s not going away. Your life is now on a new trajectory that will leave you forever changed. And that, my friend, can be a good thing. Really. Though you may only see the truth of that clearly several years down the road when you look back in awe.

And so it goes. Life with cosmic and numeric influences always in play in some form present ever new influences and happening to spur us forward. Some wash over us like a gentle breeze, giving us a nudge. Others pull us into a tornado, grasping for something to hang onto and wondering where we will land. Either way, it’s a heck of a ride, wouldn’t you agree?

Blessings!

Nine Number Glow Inner Electric Lamp by Keerat; freedigitalphotos.netWell, I thought it was about time I ventured from my magical cave (where I’ve been playing with all sorts of things, btw) to greet you all in this early part of 2016. I’ve actually been doing exactly what I recommend for most of you this month; pull back and dig deep.

Now before you throw a temper tantrum or toss up your hands in despair, let me explain why.

January 1, 2016, marked the beginning a 9 Universal Year. That means the energy of the number 9 will factor into every facet and layer of life for all of us during these 12 months.

There’s actually something kind of magical about this number.  Look at the way it looks backwards rather than forwards.  There’s a reason for that.  You see, this number marks the end of a numeric cycle that started in 2008.  We’ll be doing a lot of looking back in this year, count on it.  Yet because 9 also carries the energy of all the numbers before it, it brims with possibility.

So we’ll be looking ahead too. Oh, yes.  This is not only a number of endings, completions, and culminations.  It’s a number that urges us to take all we have gleaned from this last cycle and plan how to use that going into the new 9-year cycle that starts next year.  Indeed, it urges us to draft the blueprint for the next decade.

In truth, this marks a transitional point for all of humanity. How we choose to take part in that is up to us.  What does that mean?  For some, it means accepting the challenges of transitioning global movements.  Yet for most the focus beams much closer to home.  You may be part of something (a store, organization, or project) that must change or fold.  Or maybe you’re part of  something bursting at the seams and crying for expansion.

For still others this energy will demonstrate in personal ways; the death of a parent or the birth of a grandchild, a new job opportunity that means selling your home to move to a new location. Or maybe you are transitioning out of the workforce and into retirement or self-employment.  For many these days it means starting over after a major storm or fire takes everything that represented home and security.

Nations and the Earth herself are likewise in transition. In the United States, this is the final year of a major election cycle with a new president determined in the November election. (This one has some laughing, some crying, and a lot just shaking their heads.) Monetary systems around the globe are wobbling and jerking in an attempt to maintain systems that no longer work.  (Johnson & Johnson must be making millions on the band aids applied to this one.) And the weather…do we even need to talk about that?  Unbelievable extremes around the globe altering people’s lives and the landscape in a flash.

Any transition requires release of the old and trust that the new will unfold before us in some way. For most, that is not an easy junction.  That’s again where this number comes in, with service and compassion.  Deep, honest, heartfelt compassion.  Not to be confused with sympathy or self-pity, mind you.  Compassion brings understanding and caring originating from divine love.  It stirs us to action and opens the door to possibilities not yet imagined.  It touches the heart of the giver and receiver alike, not in a crippling way but with a power that ignites hope…no matter what.

We live in emotional times often charged with rage and anger. That too can be exacerbated by this energy if it lands in its lower expression; over emotionality.  Remember, every number carries a higher and lower vibrational energy.  Guard against allowing yourself to be pulled into that undercurrent.  The number 9 is part of the numeric Emotional Triad (3-6-9) so can bring sudden fits of rage or an upwelling of tears of pain or joy when least expected.  (I’m considering carrying a box of tissues with me this year for whomever needs a few…myself included.)

An example of this occurred when President Obama teared up when recalling the plethora of young victims of gun violence.  Why didn’t this happen at other times he spoke on this subject?  We weren’t in a 9 year then.  Plus, the Moon (emotional energy) was transiting his 10th House (career/reputation) during this latest address.

And how does the current astrology figure in all of this. Mightily!

I just gave you an example with Obama. Now consider this.  We started the year with tension created by another close connection between our old pals Pluto and Uranus.  This time they came to within a degree or so of an exact square and will stay in that close positon throughout January and beyond.  If you’ve been with me awhile you know what this signifies and energizes.  Say it with me now.

Revolutionary transformation.

I ask you, have you ever seen a revolution on this planet that was neat and orderly? No?  Me neither.  Revolution is a messy process and one that requires total dedication to the cause.  I’m not speaking so much militarily here–although that’s energized as well–as much as I am of revolutionizing ideas.  We humans resist change like a toddler fighting to retain his/her last binky (aka, pacifier).  It scares us.  And Pluto is good at that, by the way.  The scaring and the changing.  Yet Uranian energy is pushing us forward in sudden bursts, no matter what.  Look beneath all the surface explosions in headlines and sound bites and we find amazing things going on in technology, cinema, clean energy, immunotherapy, and a host of other fields.

Yet sometimes it’s the actual explosions that do captivate our attention. For example, just as the Sun moved into conjunction with Pluto on January 5th, the world rocked from North Korea’s test of what they claimed was a hydrogen bomb, a nuclear device. But then Mercury (communication/ideas) had just stationed to go retrograde, so no one knows for sure and reports are confused. Since the luminaries and inner planets trigger the outer planets, this came as no surprise astrologically.  The Pluto-Uranus square got triggered again, big time.

And what else is going on in the cosmos. Well, more than I can recount here, that’s for sure.

As I mentioned, we are in the first of four—count ‘em, fourMercury retrogrades this year.  Generally, there are three.  But good ol’ Mercury stepped up to the plate to add his own version of shock and awe by tossing in another 3-week period for reviewing, releasing, and redoing whatever calls for our attention.  Lucky us!  I must say that I agree with astrologer Donna Cunningham, however.   She feels Mercury gets blamed for a lot of what is actually Uranus’ erratic energy when it comes to technology issues.  I watched that last Winter/Spring and again all through December.  Anyway, the first Mercury retrograde is now in effect until January 25th, and I’d wait until around February 8th to actually start any major new project, if possible.  Let the energy settle a bit.

And Jupiter is now retrograde as well until early May. This again pulls our focus inward.  It marks a time for internal work and expansion that can manifest in external ways when the time is right.  Since Jupiter is now in Virgo, that may mean finally determining how to better take care of your health.  Or maybe it’s your daily routine or critical thinking that is boxing you in.  There’s a definite and strong call for freedom (Uranus)now that brings more awareness around anything that constrains us.

It pays, however, to remember that Virgo is a practical, no nonsense Earth sign that loves efficiency and tangible results. Start with making the mental changes to move you forward.  That could even be finding ways to get out of the mental loops that keep you awake at night.  Perhaps it’s your relationships that need attention. (With Black Moon Lilith recently transiting in Libra, relationship shadow issues abound.) Whatever house Jupiter is transiting in your chart will tell you where your focus will be. Realize also that Jupiter also can spark spiritual/religious zeal to the extreme.

So here’s another little freebie from me. If you don’t know where Jupiter is activating your chart right now, go to my website (below) and drop me a note with your birth information.  I’ll give you a one or two-line highlight.

And in the meantime, I’ll be in my cave determining what new explosive idea to play with next.

Blessings!

Stop War Means Caution Conflicts and Battle, Stuart Miles; freedigitalphotos.netShock and awe.  This sensation grips the collective consciousness now on a regular basis.  What happened to “peace on Earth, goodwill toward men”?  After all, it is December, the month generally filled with festivities around Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, and other worldwide celebrations.  Where’s the joy?  Is the cosmos playing a dirty trick on us or what?  Let’s take a look.

First, in my usual style, let me toss a few cosmic alignments your way. Figuratively speaking, of course.  I’m in no mood to arm wrestle Mars.

And speaking of Mars, he’s a big player this month…ticking off the big boys (outer planets) one by one.  That’s known as “triggering” or “activating” in astrology.

The holiday season here in the States began in late November with a Pluto-Uranus-Mars T-square starting to form right around Thanksgiving.  This created a volatile and explosive energy that crosses the timeline of the Saturn-Neptune square.  Squares bring tension that requires action and T-squares even more so.

In seeing that play out, at first we were simply observers as the Turkish military shot down a Russian plane.  (Uranus rules aviation and Mars rules war.) A few days later, however, the violence became personal when a husband and wife teamed up as instruments of death at her husband’s work place in San Bernardino, CA.  This attack, now deemed a senseless act of terror, gained impact when authorities attached the word “radicalized” to the couple.   And as a result the election poll ratings shot up for the U.S. presidential candidate (with Mars conjunct his Leo Ascendant) who, referring to ISIS, says he would “bomb the hell out of them.”

Let’s face it.  On the surface it looks like the world’s gone mad.  And as I see it, this will only increase in the near future.  Sorry.

You see this Pluto-Uranus-Mars T-square peaks around December 7-9 and lasts until the 15th when Pluto drops out.  But the other players don’t release this energy play until December 25th, just as Uranus stations to go direct.  And in fact, the energy between Pluto and Uranus continues to intensify until reaching its peak on New Year’s Eve.  (I warned you this was coming.)

“Why…why…WHY?” we want to scream.

For that we have to look at the character and purpose of these planetary energies.  Pluto is known as the great destroyer; he will forcefully remove anything that stands in the way of our evolutionary growth and also rules the 8th House, the house of deathUranus is known as the great awakener who uses shock and unexpected events to burst our illusions and create rebellion where and when needed for transformation (Pluto) to occur.  Mars, in astrology, is second in power only to the Sun.  His raw fiery energy activates the outer planets with warrior-like zeal when connected.  And since the asteroid Pallas Athena and Black Moon Lilith also are in this mix through conjunctions with Pluto and Mars, that adds even more warrior energy—this time of a feminine nature.  Thus enters the wife in this deadly duo.

When Mars squares Uranus, actions tend to be radical, extreme, intolerant, and without patience.  Mars-Uranus hard aspects also can point to a lone gunman, something we’ve seen repeatedly over recent years.  Realize also that Mars squaring Pluto tends to raise the impetus for revenge—an energy I see building in the U.S.

Religious zeal runs especially high now too with Saturn in SagittariusSaturn demands the rules be followed, and since Sagittarius rules religions that gives more impetus for verbalizing and acting out those demands.

Sagittarius also rules foreign lands and the migrations of people, and Saturn wants strong boundaries.  Thus enters the Syrian refugee crisis and other border issues.  With Neptune expressing as illusion in his lower vibration, his ongoing square with Saturn adds confusion.  A sense of lostness pervades, not only for the refugees and other migrants but for those attempting to deal with it.

Now here’s the good news.  A T-square between Jupiter, Chiron, and first Mercury then the Sun also is in play.  The one with Mercury started to form November 30th, peaked December 2nd, and ended December 4th while the one with the Sun started December 5th, peaks at the Sagittarius New Moon December 11th, and ends the 15th.  (Though being tied in with the New Moon extends the effect until the 25th.) These geometric aspects offer us the opportunity to overcome “shadow material,” a.k.a. the darker sides of humanity in general and those of religions in particular.  Along with this comes a new joy to work as a healer and/or to increase philosophical understanding.

I caught a short feature in a newscast about a retired therapist who is now the official philosopher for a town of just over 1,000 people in Washington State.  And yes, it is an official designation.  He remains available to discuss whatever people have on their hearts and minds. In so doing, he meets their deepest need; to have someone listen—really listen to them.

Can it be that simple?  Can we begin to work magic and miracles from the grassroots up by this one simple act? Okay…sometimes it’s not that simple.  But what might happen if we did?

Listening is quite Mercurial actually, part of the whole communication process.

Take this report of a random act of kindness, for example.  A 21-year-old woman is overheard by another person in a bank as she pleads with the teller.   Because of the $100 in fees charged to her account, she can’t pay her rent this month.   The teller cannot reverse the charges.  Rather than question, criticize, or judge bank policy or the young woman, the listener steps forward and pays the $100.

Numerically we are in a 12/3 Calendar Month as the final month of this 8 Universal Year.  The number 12/3 calls for creative solutions that rise above victimizing or victimhood.  And in an 8 year, financial issues remain on the table for us all.

So here is my challenge to you in the middle of this world-gone-mad scenario:

  • Listen, not just with your ears but with your heart.
  • Speak with wisdom and compassion.
  • Stay open to new possibilities and put creative solutions into action as never before.

Realize that the planetary energies are not here to hurt us but to give us the energetic impetus for change. We again are at choice this month. What we chose to do, personally and collectively, is up to us.

Blessings!

Cardinal colors in this 4-pointed tulip illustrate the newness awaiting us all right now.

Cardinal colors in this 4-pointed tulip illustrate the newness awaiting us all right now.

Well, how did it go?  The exact squaring of the Cardinal Grand Cross (Uranus in Aries, Jupiter in Cancer, Mars in Libra, and Pluto in Capricorn) completed yesterday, April 24th.  For some this was anticlimactic.  Nada.  Nothing.  (I hear some of you snorting at that.)  Some experienced it on a very personal/familial level. (Lots of nods on that one.)  Still others felt it on a national/international level. (A chorus of “Oh, yea…better believe it!”)  And some felt it through their careers or workplaces.  (Don’t want to talk about that one, huh?)Some experienced it as pressure or tension, others as peace.  (Sigh…) Some froze in place, others charged forward. (Screech…!)  And some just watched. (Think bug eyes here.)

How do I know this?  Because I was one that did a lot of watching.  How was my experience measured against the whole?  Well, you’ll have to wait for the book version to find that out.  But let me share a few things that I noticed in the world at large in the past week.

  1. News of the ongoing search for the missing Malaysian airliner was replaced by the equally shocking sinking of a South Korean ferry carrying 300 teens. Cosmic players: Uranus, Pluto, and Neptune.
  2. Word broke that students with parents/grandparents as co-signers on student loans here in the U.S. must pay the loans in full if the co-signer dies or declares bankruptcy. Cosmic players: Uranus, Pluto.
  3. News of a possible El Nino this year was expanded to predictions of a giant El Nino that could bring record breaking weather extremes to the U.S. and/or Americas. Cosmic players: Jupiter, Neptune.
  4. The world learned that U.S. military involvement in or near the Ukraine may be eminent as 600 paratroopers landed for training in Poland. Cosmic player: Mars, Pluto.
  5. The public was warned of a “retail tsunami” sweeping the country (U.S.) as one retailer after another announced plans to trim floor space and outlets. Cosmic player: Pluto, Jupiter

Now let’s take a closer look at these.

The Malaysian and South Korean stories keep our focus on that part of the globe.  Uranian energy brings shock and awe through life-changing events.   Pluto brings the energy of death and transformation.  And Neptune, while not a part of the Grand Square must be considered whenever bodies of water are involved.  Neptunian energy manifests in our dreams, illusions, and delusions.

The student loan story sent a shock wave (Uranus) through the massive segment of the population carrying student loan debt.  Who knew?  Pluto brings the hidden to light, digging for the truth.  Plus, Pluto rules the 8th House of other people’s money (loans, etc.).  And again, death is the change factor in this picture.

El Ninos aren’t new; we get them every few years.  This one, however, looms much larger than normal.  Since this weather phenomenon originates in the Pacific Ocean, we cannot ignore Neptune.  Yet it is Jupiter’s energy that expands, making things bigger, greater, or grander than ever before.  In this case, the result is expected to be seen in “expanding” food prices, among other things.

Whether people expected it or not, seeing U.S. paratroopers landing in Poland brought a new sense of reality to this current international hotbed.  Mars, the warring planet, has been tempered somewhat while in Libra.  Yet where war threatens in any form, Mars energy in its lowest expression is present.  And Pluto digs up things between nations (or people) that were never fully resolved.

The retail story has been coming for awhile as well.  Most of us have watched and participated in the shift from traditional shopping to online purchasing.  Yet this wave expands that already set in motion.  Pluto roots out what isn’t working.  This sweep shows Jupiter clearing the trail of the boulders retailers pushed uphill for too long.

“Let me take care of that for you,” he says, and with one swift kick sends those inhibiting boulder flying toward the bottom.  “You’re wasting your energy,” he adds.  “Let’s create something new!”

Transformation isn’t always pleasant in its developmental stages.  Yet that is exactly what is in play here.  As I stated in my last blog post, the degree number creating the corners of this Cardinal Grand Square was 13/4.  That’s a key transformational number that brings foundational change though original creative manifestation.  The 13 also can represent karmic ties from the past that arise until cut or healed.  Easy?  Probably not.  Doable?  Absolutely.

The energy of this Grand Cross built for weeks and will be felt intensely for at least a few more. Realize, however, that things introduced, initiated, or expanded during these times in history bring long-lasting results.  These results depend on how we, personally and collectively, direct and contribute to them.  Remember, the planets are not doing this to us, they are providing the energy for it.

The rare annular solar eclipse on April 29th adds even more impetus toward new beginnings.  What can you transform or create in your own life that could use a jump-start from our ever-lovin’ cosmos?  Step through this final gateway of April with the 11/2 energy presented by the 29/11/2 calendar day intensified by this 11/2 Universal Month.  Ah…numbers at play.  Gotta love it!

Let me know how these energies are affecting you.  You can leave a comment by hitting the icon by the date.  Or reach me here.

Universe by Salvatore Vuono; freedigitalphotos.comRemember how Winston Churchill said, “All we have to fear is fear itself”?  At that point England stood on the edge of World War II.  Those words have stood as an inspirational challenge ever since.  And I contend that they are equally as wise now as we stand on the edge of some massive astrological events over the next few weeks.

April 15th (in the U.S.) marks our next powerful lunar eclipse, this one in Libra.  A few days later, the 20th-24th, the Pluto-Uranus square becomes another Grand Square for a time with the help of Jupiter and Mars.  Since each of these four planets lie in Cardinal signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn), this is known as a Cardinal Grand Cross.  As if that isn’t enough on the 22nd a T-Square forms between the Moon and the North and South Node, with the Sun in opposition to the North Node for good measure.  Then on March 29th a solar eclipse jars the cosmos. These are tension building energies with the power to force things to conclusions and propel us into action.

I will not diminish the potentials that exist from these.  In fact it is kind of like a huge crate of nitrogen fertilizer of cosmic proportion sandwiched between two lit fuses.  Anything could happen.  Yet staring at the crate with dread and growing unease—okay, terror– will not stop the explosion.  It could, in fact, only intensify your experience of it.    What to do, what to do…?

Accept the likelihood of various extreme weather or geographic events.  At times like this the likelihood of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, tornados, hurricanes, floods and any other natural phenomenon you can name goes up tremendously.  Be prepared with some essentials to last a few days or a couple of weeks.  Then, if you are so inclined, be prepared to assist those who may have been in line of these events, even if you weren’t.

Prepare for economic “earthquakes” as well.  I’m not suggesting you pull your money out of the banks, but keeping some extra dollars in your wallet might be smart.  And simply recognize when something transpires, particularly around other people’s money (loans, taxes, inheritances, etc.).

As I see it, the greatest potential for upheaval appears in the area of relationships on all levels.  This is an intensification of revolutionary energy.  When this energy surges, it carries the potential for violence in a multitude of forms.  It can pit son against mother, student against student, employees against employers, nation against nation, and religions against the rest of the world. Our world history is full of such examples.

The goal this time, as shown in the numbers, is transformation.  The Cardinal Grand Cross becomes exact on the 22nd at 13°, which numerically reduces to 13/4.  This is a number of transformation that breaks things down to foundational (4) levels.

What’s a person to do?  Well, as they say in football, the best defense is a good offense.  Be pro-active.  Recognize the energy surges for what they are.   Settle potential disputes as they arise rather than allowing them to intensify.  Bring as much fairness and balance into your relationships as you can without sacrificing your own truth or wellbeing.  If anger or frustration erupts, don’t take it personally.  Realize that nearly every soul on the planet is feeling this in some way.  It’s not personal.

You may notice that there are sudden peaks and valleys in this emotional energy.  Things feel wonderful one day and a day or two later your energy craters or the computer and phones won’t work.  Again, it’s not personal.  Choose not to fall into victim mode at times like this.  Trust that clarity will come as the energies roll.  What you need to know in any given moment you will—and the rest can wait.

I’m amazed at how quickly things resolve now.  Just yesterday while deleting a chart from my astrology program, something malfunctioned and appeared to be deleting all my saved astrology charts.  I stared in horror for a moment, unable to stop it.  Then a pop-up message said there had been a malfunction and I needed to close the program.  I did, and when I reopened it all my charts were there except the one that I intended to delete.

Our spontaneous reactions may be more intense right now.  Realize that most things we experience are temporary.  Move through them as quickly as possible.

What to do, what to do…?

Trust yourself, trust the process.  Things aren’t always as they seem.  Know that it’s all part of a greater plan you signed up for long ago. And that you can take personally!

The invitation’s always open to leave a comment through clicking the little icon by the date.  Is there something you would like to toss in about this cosmic stew?  Or if you would simply like to contact me directly click here.

Planet Plant by iosphere; freedigitalphotos.netWhether you live in the northern or southern hemisphere, it’s been a long, hard winter/summer, right?  “Enough already!” people cry, plead, scream.  “Enough snow.  Enough rain.  Enough heat and fire.  Enough, enough, enough!”  And just when you feel you can’t take it anymore, something amazing happens.  The season changes, planting a whole new crop of potentials.

Yes, there’s something magical when seasons change.  Our focus shifts, and our energy right along with it.  March 20th marks the Spring/Fall Equinox this year.  And so the focus shifts; the time to plant or harvest is upon us.  And we don’t have to be farmers or gardeners to feel it.  We may feel the urge to plant the seeds for a new friendship or harvest from the information we’ve accumulated this season.  We may plant a seed of faith where none grew before or harvest the rewards of better health after changing our routine and/or daily diet.  You name it.

Will everything suddenly become “perfect” just because the season changes?  Do grey elephants become albinos in the spring?  Ridiculous, right?   Yet grasping the promise of a new season with hands and heart is part of this human experience.  And there’s nothing ridiculous about that.  It’s the chance to hope again, and to carry those hopes and dreams forward in real and practical (or impractical) ways.

Numerically, “spring” calculates to a 38/11/2 vibration.  That in itself invites double new beginnings manifesting in the highest order through creativity, resulting in peaceful one-on-one communication and relationship.  It’s time to plant.  “Fall” calculates to 13/4, a number of rock-solid transformational rewards gained though great effort.  It’s time to reap.  March is a 3 (creativity, fun) month and 20/2 a sometimes difficult relationship number supported by the divine.  Added together they make 5 (3+2+0=5), the number of change and adventure.

Now I’m not going to lie to you.  There are some powerful indications of change showing in the astrology charts.  And even at this change of season, the tensions are building, astrologically and on the planet.  If you have a strong Cardinal Sign influence in your astrology chart, you will feel these next movements the most. (I’m a Libran and the last full Moon in my Rising Sign on the heels of a major solar flare laid me low for a couple of days.  Yowza!)  So check out where Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn are in your chart for an indication of what areas of your life may light up soon.  This is not a prophecy of doom scenario.  But the potential for some major shake ups appear pretty certain over the next month—and beyond for that matter.  This starts at the Equinox, intensifies at the next new Moon March 30 and really fires up in April.  So get your sparklers and ear plugs ready.  (wink)

Yes, the times of change continue.  And just now as the seasons change, we also shift as a collective from Pisces to Aries.  We leave that deep dreaminess of Pisces, sometimes manifesting as confusion, for a sign of individual power.  Aires, the power planet, likes action, action, and more action.  This sign, powered by Mars, tends to energize and activate anything under its influence.  However, with Mars retrograde in Libra, his energy is not as aggressive as normal.  But neither is he “happy” with Libra exerting her influence on why and how he operates. (This can manifest as confusion as well, by the way, not to mention Mercury and Neptune buddying up again.)   Will this fiery planet be subdued or simply build tension for sudden outbursts of energy?  That depends on many factors and time will tell.

Remember, hope springs eternal.  Allow your heart to sing as we swing into this new season.  Focus the Aries energy in ways that plant the seeds of promise for yourself and others.  And most of all know that you can weather any storm, any perceived threat, with an inner knowing that at deeper levels of being all is well and you are never alone.

What do you sense in life’s rhythm at this point?  I’d love to hear.  You may leave a comment by clicking the icon next to the date, or for more personal issues contact me hereBlessings!

Pisces

Pisces

Are you refusing to listen to the news?  Refusing to enter discussions about the threats and maladies of this world?  Choosing to spend countless hours watching TV, shopping, reading novels, playing video games or sleeping 10-12 hours a day?  Then you, my friend, likely carry a strong Piscean influence in your astrology chart.  (Heads up!  If you were born between February 19th and March 20th, or with a Pisces Rising Sign or Moon Sign, I’m talking to you.)

Few people recoil from conflict more than those with a strong Piscean influence.  And the larger the perceived threat, the greater the impulse to escape, just escape, in any way possible.  Why is this?

Pisces, the 12th astrology sign, follows strong-willed Aquarius on the cosmic wheel. Being naturally in the 12th House it carries the influence of all the other signs before it. (How’s that for an overloaded situation?)  Plus, since Aquarian energy is more “out there,” it follows that Piscean energy draws us once again to a more internal focus.   This heightens our sensitivity to everything external.  We may say it doesn’t affect us, but our lives say otherwise.  The truth is it triggers our deepest fears and personal trauma still residing in our subconscious.  It is that which terrifies us the most.   Sounds more like Pluto and Scorpian energy, I know, but this is framed by something quite different.  Our imagination.

Pisces, ruled by Neptune, is fueled by imagination.  In its highest expression it brings dreams of endless possibility.  The external world becomes a playground for creative manifestation.  Ideas float and form.  Some drift on wayward ethers and others find their way into masterful arts, whether traditional or practical.  Painting, music, culinary arts, scrapbooking or financial wizardry, it doesn’t matter.  Imagination-powered genius lands on all level in any genre.

Yet when imagination meets the most hidden parts of our self, it can terrify the psyche.  We can’t, or won’t, look at it.  Nightmares resurface, we grow fearful of everything and everyone.  The world is a scary place; we hide.  What other answer is there?

For the Piscean—and the Piscean in all of us—the answer stems from an unlikely place.  Consciousness.  The call of the Piscean is to live life from a level of not just seeing but of conscious awareness.  Shakespeare’s famous words “All the world’s a stage, and all the men and women merely players…” lend a valuable clue.  To attain a level of awareness that allows you to view your life and the larger world through the eyes of the spiritual observer marks the Piscean’s highest goal.  Don’t mistake this for piety or righteous indignation.  No, from this level there is no judgment, no pity, no pain, no fear.  There is only peace.  Quietude.  No-thing-ness.  It is to this state those with strong Piscean influence retreat to refuel and from this state they ultimately leave their mark in the world.

Some find this place through meditation, some through wordless prayer, others through nature.  The where and how don’t matter.  What matters is that the mind be stilled to a point where words are few or nonexistent, allowing the quietude to simply be.  This scares the bejeebers out of the ego, by the way, so don’t be surprised when all the reasons you “can’t” do this fly up like red flags whipping in the wind.  Yet mastery, for the Piscean, means the difference between living a life of meaning or one of crazy making.  Ask yourself, which will it be?

Remember, with Pisces natural home in the 12th House, the number 12 comes into play again.  Will you be a victim, a victimizer, or a victor?  This number puts us at choice for this as well.  It is the number of learning.  And with this energetic combination, the “lessons” (a.k.a., experiences) hold unimaginable promise.

So put on your breastplate of peace, dear Piscean, and dare to face the world.  It needs you with every ounce of imaginative influence you can land on this beautiful planet.

Connecting Hearts, digitalart; freedigitalphotos.netI’m amazed when I see numeric codes that shout messages to us.  This February 14th does just that with a triple activation of the number 14/5.  Now before you leap to any conclusions, let’s explore what’s been leading up to that date as well as what follows.  Take your seat on my magic carpet and let’s zip around the calendar and the cosmos for a bit, okay?

Backing up to early February Mercury eased up on Neptune close enough to comfortably shake hands.  Not quite close enough for a bear hug, mind you.  Just a hand shake—and a meeting of the minds (otherwise known as cosmic energy).  We often sense Neptune energy through our hopes and dreams.  It’s the planet of far-reaching ideas and wild dreams that wake us up at night.  To bring deeply spiritual ideas to the forefront is its highest ambition.  Yet when our energy does not create a match for that, its expression appears in other forms…like confusion.  Mix that with Mercury-style energy and some pretty wild things can show up.  That energy stayed in place for several days.  Mercury retrograded on February 6th at 3° Pisces, one degree away from Neptune. (By the way, did you hear Mercury chuckling as it retrograded at 3, the number of humor?)   This kept the confusion factor in play around this planetary transition.

Here’s how that looked for me.

As I scrambled to complete trip reservations prior to the retrograde, someone I needed to contact was out skiing.  (The nerve, right?) Then another person was included in the trip at the last minute but asked for 24-hrs. to “think about it.”  This rolled the process into the retrograde period, so what would have taken one or two phone calls took three or four times that plus numerous emails to correct misunderstandings, dragging over the next three days.  (Did I mention that Mercury retrograde slows.things.down?)  This energy slopped over into other areas of my life as well, like realizing I forgot to put the cinnamon in apples cooking on the stove, then nearly sprinkling in chili powder instead.  (Yowza!  That was close.)

With Mercury nearly out of Neptune’s orb for a while, I’m feeling much better now, thank you.  How about you?

And here comes Valentine’s Day (in the States), our favorite Love Holiday.  Actually, some love it, some hate it, and others couldn’t care less.  Be that as it may, it’s here again and bound to stir more than a little emotion in many people.  Yet this year I see something new added to the emotional mix.  Communication—big time.  Look at the date: February 14, 2014.  See the double 14?  Okay, now if you add all the digits together (2+1+4+2+0+1+4) it equals 14 as well.  Since in numerology we reduce everything to single digits, that reads as 14/5.  And any time a number repeats, it intensifies.

If you’ve been with me very long, you know this is the ancient number of the scribe which translates in today’s language as “the media number.”  It enhances all forms of communication, personal and non-personal.  It also can denote a person with many gifts and the inability to pick just one.  That energy may come into play when deciding on the perfect gift for your loved one, be it man/woman or your faithful dog (cat…horse…).

Yet the communication factor brings the greatest challenges right now with Mercury in retrograde.  And on February 12th Mercury slipped back into Aquarius where it impacts a more scientific rather than a spiritual energy.  That said, remember Mercury rules all forms of communication, plus electronics, mechanics, and travel.   So if that new I-pad you get from your honey on Valentine’s Day won’t work for some reason, take a deep breath.  The problem may clear up on its own after your actions/ reactions bring the “a-ha” moments intended.   Realize that an incident like this opens the door to handling communication in a better way than you may have in the past.  That’s a biggie!  Check and see if this is true, then acknowledge it if you (or your significant other) can note an improvement.  (Yeah, you!)  The number 5 can bring rocky moments, pivotal points that invite change.  Honor them when they arise.

As if all this isn’t enough, the Moon goes full on that date as well, this time in Leo.  Full Moon energy is known for its intensity.  (Sleep? What’s that?) This time it blends with the “me first” energy of this sign ruled by the Sun.  That creates an intense interplay between the feminine emotional energy of the Moon and the masculine power energy of the Sun.  This could give rise to a lot of emotion around issues involving self-worth, feeling overlooked, or demanding your own way.  See what comes up and face it squarely.  Don’t excuse yourself for poor behavior.  Take the opportunity to grow through it.

This strong Moon energy moves into Virgo the next day which shifts the energy to feeling more practical and helpful.  That assists with any ripples than may have drifted forward from the day before.

So Happy Valentine’s Day, everybody!  May your love for self and others be true, your communication clear, and your gifts expressed in unique and life-enhancing ways.  Live, laugh, love!

Love Is Everywhere, holohololand; freedigitalphoto.net

We entered February with Venus no longer in retrograde, which is perfect for a month so focused on love as this.  Now our love interests again shift outward more than inward.  That’s not to say the time for contemplation has ended.  It hasn’t.  Yet now those dwelling thoughts and feeling tend to include others more.

This blend is natural this month.  The contemplative and solitary energy of the 7 Universal Year now blends with that of a 9 Universal Month.  Seven in numerology marks the strongest of the mental numbers noted in the Mental Triad (1-5-7).  Nine is considered the king of numbers because it includes the energies of all the other numbers before it.  It tops the Emotional Triad (3-6-9) with deep compassion and humanitarian instincts.   Thus blending the energy of the 7 and 9 this month empowers ideas into actions that demonstrate the feelings behind them.  Nine also brings endings and culminations so blends well with what we’ll look at next.

On February 6th, Mercury retrogrades again and remains so the rest of the month. (Come on.  Stop moaning; you know that only makes it feel worse.) As you likely know, this energy can not only confuse all forms of electronics and communication but draws us to redress anything unfinished.  That often results in bringing things to completion or at last ending what may have needed to end long ago.  This is the 9 energy at play.

Often without us realizing it the 7 energy under-girds us at times like this.  It brings ideas and solutions for these times of closure while fielding new dreams and ambitions for our future.  When we allow this process to play out, we are truly living in the highest vibration of these numbers in a win-win scenario.  Plus they’re given a boost since Mercury, the ruler of the mind, joins Neptune, ruler of our hopes and dreams in Neptune’s home sign (Pisces).

So how does this fit into February, the month of LOVE?

February begins in Aquarius, the most humanitarian of all astrology signs.  On the 18th it changes to Pisces, a highly spiritual sign.  Perfect!  Remember 7 is the most spiritual of all the numbers.  Can you see where this is going?  Well, neither can I—and that’s the beauty of it. (Oh, come back here; I’m not finished yet.) We don’t have to.  Simply trust.  Have faith.  Trust your higher power and your own inner knowing.

I realize this may be a stretch for some of you.  Trusting your own mind is one thing; trusting anything else is something else, right?  And therein lays the conundrum many may face during this Mercury retrograde period. Will you now embrace your highest potential for your given situation based on that sense of guidance or being drawn?  Will you now allow your heart to lead and you mind to shift to the important support role for which it was designed?  Will you?  Choice, we’re forever at choice, aren’t we?  And this is a great time to plan.

More excitement awaits as this month moves into flow.  Just wait till Valentine’s Day.  Wow, baby!  But more on that later.

Be blessed as you bless others.  Love to the enth degree.  And most of all enjoy the journey.

AquariusIf you have an Aquarian friend, or are Aquarian yourself, you know that these gems of society can be a little quirky.  That’s not an insult but is often true, and one of the traits that sets them apart.  Since we collectively entered the sign of Aquarius on January 20th (and will remain there until February 18th) let’s take a closer look at its impact on those born under this astrological sign and how they relate to the rest of us.

Aquarians love to be occupied though this may escape immediate notice since much of that activity is mental.  They tend to be highly intelligent.  In fact intellectual stimulation is like an aphrodisiac to them.  That said, building deep relationships is often their most challenging area since their innermost drive in toward freedom.  That can make committed relationships difficult.  To them attachment equates to loss of freedom, so much patience may be called for from any prospective partner.  Be prepared to give them time—lots of time to establish any long-lasting relationship.  And don’t feel the need to drown them in affection in the process.  They generally don’t need or want a lot of demonstrative love.  (Sorry about that.)

As I said, these people are thinkers.  They often are future oriented.  Yet while they can see the future clearly, it is more difficult for them to live in the here and now.  Their type of intelligence allows them to think abstractly yet be practical, with one caveat: they will live by their own rules.  They lean toward careers that question the set norms and definitely don’t like working a 9 to 5 routine job or working in confined spaces for that matter.  No high-rise cubicles-style offices for these folks.  They need freedom!

They are essentially rebels, non-conformists.  Unpredictable, stubborn and fixed in their views.  Yet while they often are fixed in their opinions (Aquarius is a fixed sign, after all), they definitely are not fixed in their life patterns.  In fact, with Aquarians you never know what they may do next.

They wear the label “Extremist” exceptionally well, and these extreme actions often find them working in some way for the betterment of society.  Consistency can be a problem, however, since their performance depends on how they feel in any given moment.  Yes, many do have deeply sensitive natures.  Because of that, there is a tendency to wall themselves in, appearing quite aloof to the rest of the world.  Plus, with their progressive ideas not always accepted, they can feel  misunderstood. These are truth seekers, whether they realize it or not.

They often look like they have many friends, which in truth are mainly acquaintances.  The quirky personality may contribute to that, yet Aquarians make loyal and compassionate friends when allowed to be so.   They love excitement and making people laugh.

They love gadgets and computers.  They also may be inclined toward the arts and music.  As to sports, baseball and tennis top the list.

As with those born under any of the other signs, Aquarians each are unique while sharing similar traits.  The layout of the birth chart and its innate number coding guarantees this.  Yet looking at some widely shared traits can bring deeper understanding and appreciation.  And who doesn’t need that these days?

So the next time you spend time with an Aquarian in your world, see them with new eyes.  Let them be a little “weird” if that’s their bent, and embrace the differences as well as the similarities between you.  They’re part of the grander plan, as we all are, and could turn into one of the best friends you’ve ever had.
